A nanny for every situation

Full-time Nannies: Nannies are responsible for providing nurturing care to one or more children. Their duties are related to cleaning and cooking tasks, such as preparing child´s meals. Nannies usually perform many of the following tasks: Doing children´s laundry. Preparing bottles for the baby or babies. Running errands. Reading to and with the children. A Full-time nanny will be responsible for taking care of your child in your absence during agreed upon work hours. These duties include care such as feeding, bathing, changing diapers, maintaining a routine, putting your child down for naps, and ensuring the well-being and health of your child.

Part-Time Nannies: A part-time nanny works less than 40 hours per week with one family. A nanny who is in a part-time nanny job may work one to several full day per week and then a few hours on other days. Or sometimes work three full days per week and no other days that week. As a part-time nanny, you will be most likely working as a nanny for your career. That is another big difference between a babysitter and a part-time nanny. Nannies most often have formal training in childcare and may even have a college degree, while a babysitter may not have formal training in childcare.

Live in Nanny: Live in Nannies are responsible for all duties related to children and can also assist with household chores such as meal preparation and running errands. Care arrangements can be varied from family to family, but commonly include: Feeding, bathing, changing, and dressing. Providing Socio-Emotional Support and learning. Implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for your children. School/Kinder drop offs and pickups. Transporting children to music lessons, sports practice, play dates and other organized activities. Helping with family evening routine – dinner, baths and putting the children to bed. Providing overnight supervision if parents are working night shifts or are away from home overnight for any reason. Although a Nanny’s mail priority should always be the children in their care – there are many light household duties that a nanny may be able to complete or included during the day. These might include: Meal preparation. Stacking and unstacking the dishwasher. Ensuring main living area (lounge room and kitchen) are maintained. Sweeping the floors. Laundry washing, hanging, and folding. Maintaining children’s bedrooms and play area. Running household errands and shopping Other light household duties that have been agreed upon in advance.

Live out Nanny: As a full time live out NYC Nanny, you can expect to work anywhere between 40 to 55 hours per week. Most of the full-time positions represented are Monday through Friday, so you will potentially have the weekends off! You will be compensated according to your level of experience and the duties requested. All full-time positions offer paid vacation, paid sick/personal days, and paid major holidays! All of this will be written in your Offer of Employment Proposal, which is signed by both you and the family that hires you for protection and clarity.

Childcare Housekeeper: A nanny housekeeper will usually provide care for children aged up to 12 years old, alongside domestic duties. The role will be flexible, leaving you and your family to decide on their duties based on what suits you, so you have more time doing the things you would rather be doing. This means a nanny housekeeper can either be solely responsible for the care of children, work alongside you, or mainly focus on housekeeping and only provide childcare when you are otherwise occupied. A Nanny housekeeper with sole responsibility for your child or children will complete household tasks when the children are at school, nursery, or around their schedule. The duties of a nanny housekeeper include: • Preparing children for school • Taking care of the school drop off and pick up. • Supervising homework • Arranging playdates • Organizing appointments • Taking care of laundry for the family • Preparing meals • Keeping the house tidy • Managing any tradespeople working at home The duties undertaken by a nanny housekeeper are at your discretion, and you can discuss your requirements during the consultation process to ensure we find the right candidate for you and your family.

Mother Helper: A Mother’s helper mostly works under some supervision to handle all aspects of childcare, errands, easy meal preparation, and light housework. You can hire a mother’s helper for many different reasons. Some of the ways that a mother’s helper can make a parent’s life a little easier includes: • Playing with the kids while mom does some work or jumps on a conference call. • Making easy lunches and preparing snacks. • Helping with homework. • Entertaining the toddler while mom feds, soothes or tends to a baby. • Doing the dishes or unpacking the dishwasher while mom plays with the kids. • Allowing mom to take a much-needed quick nap, a shower or bathroom break. • Allows mom to get the administrative stuff.

Special Care nanny/Childcare: A special needs nanny is a professional caregiver who specializes in looking after children who have special needs. This might include a child with autism, Asperger’s, developmental or emotional issues, or physical disabilities. Your duties differ with position, which can range from full-time, live-in care for a patient, to being an occasional babysitter for a child who needs extra attention. Your responsibilities may be to prepare children for school or play activities, assist them with bathing, feeding, and dressing, or taking the child to physical or behavioral therapy. A nanny for a child with special needs is typically more skilled and often has more experience than their peers.

Children with special needs can have varying communication abilities, dietary concerns, or behavioral differences, depending on the specific situation.

Next, you will be asked about what you are looking for in an ideal caretaker.   To continue, you will be asked about your years of experience, the age of the children you took care of in the past, etc.    Please specify if you would prefer someone with CPR training, non-smoker, college-educated, etc. Once you make your selections, you can begin to create an account by providing your zip code, name, and email address.   From there you can begin browsing caregivers in your area.   To begin corresponding with individuals you will have to subscribe to our premium membership.

What are the general responsibilities of a nanny?

Nannies duties generally include the everyday tasks of caring and educating children such as:

  • Care and attention.
  • Maintain safety.
  • Most families will request the completion of a communication diary that shares the child’s day including what they ate, toileting, sleep, developmental milestones, what they did, their temperament for the day, concern’s, etc
  • Feeding the children.
  • Bathing the children.
  • Organization and coordination of activities (planned and spontaneous) and interaction within the activities and playtime.
  • Helping with homework.
  • Driving children to activities.
  • Arranging playdates.
  • Household tasks related to the children such as washing and ironing, cleaning their room, maintaining play areas, stock levels such as nappies, etc. Most nannies will agree that housework directly involving the children is usually your responsibility.
